Trademark Usage Guidelines

Official Rules for Using ASI Brand Assets and Trademarks

Article 1: ASI Trademarks and Protected Marks

1.1 The following are registered trademarks and proprietary intellectual property of Accreditation Standards Institute LLC ("ASI"):

  • Accreditation Standards Institute® — Full institutional name
  • ASI® — Abbreviated name and acronym
  • The ASI Logo and Visual Identity — Including all logo variations, seals, and badges
  • Certification Program Names — Including "Certified Functional Medicine Health Coachâ„¢," "Certified Holistic Nutrition Coachâ„¢," and all program-specific titles
  • Credential Designations — Including CFMHC, CHNC, CWHS, CIWP, CMHC, and all certificate abbreviations
  • Course Titles and Curriculum Content — All educational materials, lesson content, and proprietary methodologies
  • Certificate Designs — All certificate templates, digital badges, and verification seals

1.2 These marks are protected under United States and international trademark law. Unauthorized use may result in legal action, including claims for trademark infringement, unfair competition, and monetary damages.

Article 2: Permitted Uses (Certified Graduates)

2.1 If you are a certified ASI graduate in good standing, you are granted a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to use ASI trademarks as follows:

Authorized Uses:

  • State that you are "Certified by the Accreditation Standards Institute" or "ASI Certified"
  • Display your official ASI digital certificate on your website, social media, and professional profiles
  • Use your certification title and credential designation (e.g., "Certified Functional Medicine Health Coach" or "CFMHC")
  • Include statements such as "Graduate of Accreditation Standards Institute" in professional biographies
  • Link to the official ASI website (accreditation-standards.org)
  • Share your certification achievement on social media platforms with appropriate attribution

2.2 Proper Attribution Examples:

  • ✓"Jane Smith, Certified Functional Medicine Health Coach (ASI)"
  • ✓"John Doe, CFMHC — Accreditation Standards Institute"
  • ✓"Certified by the Accreditation Standards Institute | accreditation-standards.org"
  • ✓"Sarah Johnson — ASI Certified Holistic Nutrition Coach"
  • ✓"Holding certification in Women's Health from Accreditation Standards Institute"

Article 3: Prohibited Uses

3.1 The following uses of ASI trademarks are strictly prohibited. Violations may result in immediate credential revocation and legal action:

  • Using "ASI" or "Accreditation Standards Institute" in your business name (e.g., "ASI Wellness Center" or "Accreditation Standards Coaching")
  • Registering domain names containing ASI trademarks (e.g., asi-coaching.com, accreditationstandardscoach.com)
  • Creating logos, graphics, or visual assets that incorporate ASI trademarks without prior written authorization
  • Implying partnership, sponsorship, endorsement, or official affiliation with ASI beyond being a certified graduate
  • Modifying, altering, distorting, or redesigning the ASI logo or any official brand assets
  • Using ASI trademarks in paid advertising (Google Ads, Facebook Ads, etc.) without prior written approval
  • Selling products or services using ASI branding as if they were official ASI offerings
  • Creating social media handles that could be confused with official ASI accounts (e.g., @ASICoaching, @AccreditationStandardsInstitute)
  • Speaking on behalf of ASI or making statements as an official representative without authorization

3.2 Improper Use Examples:

  • ✗"ASI Wellness Center" — Using ASI in business name
  • ✗"accreditation-standards-coach.com" — Trademark in domain name
  • ✗"@ASIJaneSmith" — Confusing social media handle
  • ✗Using the ASI logo on business cards without permission
  • ✗"Official ASI Partner" — Implying partnership without authorization

Article 4: Logo Usage Policy

4.1 The ASI logo is a protected trademark and may only be used under the following conditions:

  • By certified graduates displaying their official digital certificate (logo is embedded in certificate)
  • With prior written permission from ASI for specific, approved use cases
  • In accordance with ASI brand guidelines provided upon approval

4.2 If permission is granted, the following logo usage rules apply:

  • The logo must not be modified, stretched, recolored, or altered in any way
  • Minimum clear space must be maintained around the logo
  • The logo must not be placed on busy backgrounds that reduce legibility
  • The logo must link to the official ASI website when used digitally
  • The logo must never appear larger than your own business branding

To request logo usage permission: Email brand@accreditation-standards.org with your name, certification status, and detailed description of intended use.

Article 5: Social Media Guidelines

5.1 When posting about your ASI certification on social media, you must:

  • Be honest and accurate about your certification and qualifications
  • Clearly distinguish your personal opinions from official ASI positions
  • Not create accounts that could be confused with official ASI accounts
  • Not speak on behalf of ASI without explicit authorization
  • Tag official ASI accounts appropriately when referencing your certification

5.2 Recommended hashtags for sharing your certification:

#ASICertified#AccreditationStandardsInstitute#ASIGraduate#CertifiedHealthCoach#FunctionalMedicine

Article 6: Third-Party and Media Use

6.1 Media outlets, journalists, bloggers, and other third parties wishing to reference or use ASI trademarks must:

  • Use the full, correct name: "Accreditation Standards Institute" (not abbreviated on first reference)
  • Include appropriate trademark symbols (® or â„¢) on first use when practical
  • Contact ASI for official logo assets, press materials, or interview requests
  • Not imply endorsement or partnership without written authorization

Article 7: Enforcement and Consequences

7.1 ASI actively monitors and protects its trademarks. Violations of these guidelines may result in:

  • Formal cease and desist notice demanding immediate correction
  • Immediate revocation of ASI certification and credential rights
  • Removal from the ASI graduate directory and verification system
  • Legal action for trademark infringement under the Lanham Act (15 U.S.C. § 1051 et seq.)
  • Claims for monetary damages, including actual damages, profits, and statutory damages up to $2,000,000 per willful infringement
  • Recovery of attorney's fees and litigation costs
  • Injunctive relief requiring immediate cessation of infringing activities

Warning: Trademark infringement is a serious legal matter. ASI will vigorously defend its intellectual property rights and pursue all available legal remedies against unauthorized use.

Article 8: Reporting Trademark Violations

8.1 ASI appreciates the assistance of our graduate community in protecting our shared brand. If you become aware of unauthorized use of ASI trademarks, please report it immediately.

8.2 When reporting a violation, please include:

  • Description of the unauthorized use
  • URL, screenshots, or other evidence
  • Name/contact information of the infringing party (if known)
  • Your contact information for follow-up
